Hi parents! Today in class we talked about how English and Spanish sound different. To help students get more comfortable with the new sounds, everyone was given a Spanish name. Some of the names are direct translations, but others were assigned because they sounded similar or meant the same thing (some names simply do not translate well into Spanish).
We learned how to introduce ourselves in Spanish, and how to ask someone for their name. Please practice with your student as much as possible so that he or she doesn't forget the words!
What is your name?: Como te llamas? (Co-mo tay yah-mas)
My name is...: Me llamo... (May yah-mo)
Lastly, we reviewed some of the material we learned last year, like colors and numbers. A lot of the information was retained, and I can't wait to build on it!
