4Assante: Hi parents! Today in class we talked about how English and Spanish sound different. To help students get more comfortable with the new sounds, everyone was given a Spanish name. Some of the names are direct translations, but others were assigned because they sounded similar or meant the same thing (some names simply do not translate well into Spanish).
We learned how to introduce ourselves in Spanish, how to ask someone for their name, and some simple phrases. We practiced with partners, but I would ask you to please practice with your student as much as possible so that he or she doesn't forget the words! Your student should have the words written down in his or her notebook, but if not, they are listed below.
What is your name?: Como te llamas? (Co-mo tay yah-mas)
My name is...: Me llamo... (May yah-mo)
Hello: Hola (oh-la)
Good morning: Buenos dias (bway-nos dee-ahs)
Good afternoon: Buenas tardes (bway-nahs tar-dace)
Good night: Buenas noches (bway-nahs no-chase)
Goodbye: Adios (ah-dee-os)
How are you?: Como estas? (co-mo es-tahs)
I am good: Estoy bien (es-toy bee-en)
I am bad: Estoy mal (es-toy mahl)
I am okay: Estoy asi asi (es-toy ah-see ah-see)
