Pronouns
Singular Plural
Yo - I Nosotros - We
Tú - You (friends/family) Vosotros - You guys (friends/family)
Usted - You (elders/strangers) Ustedes - All of you (elders/strangers)
Él - He Ellos - They (all men/mixed groups)
Ella - She Ellas - They (all women)
Gustar- To be pleasing
--We use the verb gustar to talk about what we like (what pleases us.)
--Gustar is a reflexive verb. This means that it is used to talk about how a person is affected by another thing. In this case, the person you are talking about isn't the one doing the action, but the one the action affects.
--We need to use indirect object pronouns in conjunction with reflexive verbs.
Indirect Object Pronouns
Me - (to) me Nos - (to) us
Te - (to) you (informal you) Vos - (to) you guys (informal you)
Le - (to) you (formal you)/him/her Les - (to) you (formal you)/them
--To talk about a verb that someone likes, use
--> Indirect object pronoun + gusta + infinitive verb
(verb ending in ar/er/ir)
ex: Me gusta ir a la playa
Nos gusta bailar
Les gusta leer
--To talk about one thing that someone likes, use
--> Indirect object pronoun + gusta + singular noun
ex: Te gusta la pizza
Vos gusta la clase de arte
Le gusta el perro
--To talk about more than one thing that someone likes, use
-->Indirect object pronoun + gustan + plural noun
ex: Me gustan las papas fritas
Nos gustan los huevos
Vos gustan los deportes
