Hi parents! Today in class we talked about how English and Spanish sound different. To help students get more comfortable with the new sounds, everyone was given a Spanish name. Some of the names are direct translations, but others were assigned because they sounded similar or meant the same thing (some names simply do not translate well into Spanish).
We learned how to introduce ourselves in Spanish, and how to ask someone for their name. Please practice with your student as much as possible so that he or she doesn't forget the words!
What is your name?: Como te llamas? (Co-mo tay yah-mas)
My name is...: Me llamo... (May yah-mo)
Lastly, we reviewd the colors and numbers we learned last year. I am happy to say that most students remembered numbers 1-10, and some were even able to count to 15! Likewise, almost all 10 colors we learned we remembered by every student.
I look forward to next week!
